How do you improve Stormslinger? ›

After receiving a Stormslinger at the end of the side quest The Shaman's Path, Aloy can visit Varga, who will excitedly examine the weapon and offer to improve it. To do so, she needs the talon from a Stormbird. Since they are not present in the Cut, it is necessary to return to the Sundom to complete this errand.

The Stormslinger is a ranged weapon in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. It fires charged bolts which deal escalating damage in succession. The Improved version has a larger ammo capacity and the ability to overcharge the weapon.

All you need for it to count is the kill with the Stormslinger, not the enitre damage cycle. Focus on killing the smaller six machines first. When the six are down for the count, focus on the Ravenger with bombs to quickly lower its health and then finish it with the Stormslinger.

After unlocking this weapon from Varga, players will have an Improved Stormslinger at their disposal. If they sell the weapon by accident, they can also purchase one from Bluegleam Merchants with 1650 Metal Shards and one Scorcher Heart.

Keep the trigger pulled. Each consecutive shot will deal more damage until it goes into overcharge. In overcharge it does insane damage - but unfortunately it starts backfiring and hurts Aloy as well. It can even kill her quite efficiently if you don't let go of the trigger.

The weapon is first given to Aloy as reward for completing the quest For the Werak. It can later be purchased from Special Merchants in The Cut. The Upgraded version can be first obtained by completing the quest Geared Up: Icerail, which afterward makes it available for purchase in The Cut's special merchants.

Precision Arrows already deal incredible amounts of damage, so an overdrawn Banuk Powershot Bow is a good candidate for the strongest weapon in the game. Along with Aloy's Shield Weaver Armor, the Banuk Powershot Bow is an essential part of Aloy's loadout in the late-game.

Oseram Cannon

Despite being unpurchasable and being unable to craft ammo for them, Heavy Weapons are the absolute best type to use in Zero Dawn. With seven variations, the most ideal to use in the game is no doubt the Oseram Cannon, a weapon type that delivers more physical damage than any other in the game.

"Adept" is the NG+ tier. Adept versions of the banuk weapons are the most powerful. Before frozen wilds your most powerful weapons are the shadow and lodge weapons.

This challenge is only unlocked after completing The Survivor. Once that quest is over, talk to Ikrie at the hunting grounds to take on this new challenge. Teaming up with Ikrie, you have to take down as many machines as you can with a limited number of basic, hardpoint, and fire arrows.

The Chieftain Trial can be played after beating the story in Frozen Wilds.

After completing the campaign (when you have all three new weapons), go talk to Varga in Longnotch, the eastern settlement in The Cut. To upgrade these new weapons, you'll have to hunt down a Stormbird, a Thunderjaw, and a Bellowback.

Talk to Kamut once you have the Rail Part, and the ability to upgrade your spear like any other weapon becomes available. The functionality is basically the same - there are two slots for modificatins on your spear, which you can fill by heading to the Crafting tab of your menu.

Weaknesses. A Thunderjaw's major structural weaknesses are its heart and data nexus; ranged weapon strikes on either cause significant damage once they are exposed. Similarly, landing a shot of the corresponding element on exposed elemental canisters will induce their status effects.
