Nia Romance Guide
At the start of the game, Nia will interact with you only via letters as she is living in Highwind, a city east of Sandrock that you can’t visit. She will come to Sandrock for three days after the “Where’s Mi-an” main story quest.
After progressing the story further, Nia will visit Sandrock again and stay there, which means you can start increasing your relationship level. Nia is one of the 9 romanceable bachelorettes in MTaS.
However, Nia won’t agree to date you before completing her story. Specifically, to romance Nia in My Time at Sandrock, wait after the Mama Tree revives where she will indirectly ask you on a date. This is where your relationship begins.
However, before that, you can still increase your relationship level. From the time she arrives in Sandrock, you’ll be able to interact with her daily, play critters, and complete side-quests for her. These will increase your relationship. Keep in mind that Nia’s birthday is on Spring 3. As you’re increasing your relationship, you can expect the following perks:
- Buddy (2-stars): Will send you gifts via mail
- Good Friend (4-stars): Grants 20 luck points
- Best Friend (5-stars): Deal 5 more damage when using Spear weapons
However, the best method to increase your relationship with Nia is by giving her her favorite items.

Overall, Nia has a smaller list of favorite gifts compared to other candidates. However, most of them are fairly easy to get.
Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t gift her the same item two or more days in a row as it will grant fewer relationship points for each consecutive day.

Overall, the best option here is the Rhino Horn Cactus since you can easily grow a lot of them on your farm and it gives 8 relationship points.
Nevertheless, the list doesn’t end here. As long as you avoid items that she dislikes (all types of scrap and ruined-quality items), you will gain some relationship points from any gift.
