Gail Yvonne Snow Obituary - 2024 (2024)

Gail Yvonne Snow, age 65, of Clifton Springs, passed away peacefully in sleep after fighting a courageous battle with cancer and it’s complications on Friday, April 5, 2024

Gail was born in Clifton Springs to the late Max and Jewel Cattieu. As a child she loved playing with the Pleasant Street neighborhood kids, in the woods behind the old hospital. She Graduated from Midlakes High School, class of 1976. After high school She attended the Continental School of Beauty in Rochester and worked as a hair dresser. With her family growing, Gail went back to school and graduated from the FLCC nursing program in 1986, a month after her youngest daughter was born. She was hired as a Registered Nurse at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic and worked in many facets of nursing, finishing her 30 plus year career in the ICU. She was respected and well loved by patients, doctors, fellow nurses, and hundreds of other co workers over the years. Gail loved caring and comforting others. Compassion was her strongest suite. She was proud to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a nurse and truly took the nurses pledge to her heart. An example of her commitment to this would be, on one of Gail’s many shopping adventures she heard a call for help overhead. She dropped everything and sprinted there. A man had fallen and collapsed. Her and another nurse preformed CPR until the paramedics arrived. A few weeks later, while sun bathing on her pool deck, a flower delivery came for her. It was from the family of the man she helped that day. The card thanked her, and explained that the man had passed, but because of her quick response and caring heart he was able to say goodbye to his family one last time. This is one of many stories that could be told of her amazing dedication to her profession and others.

She enjoyed the sunshine. Evident by her endless tan. She loved making Holidays special for her children and grandchildren. She was the coordinator for all the family events and understood the importance of gathering together. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and tending to her beautiful flower beds with her fur babies in tow. Gail poured herself into all that she did.

In a word Gail was resilient. Every time life knocked her down she got back up swinging. A characteristic she instilled into her three children. She was a fighter and independent right up until the end. She will be remembered as a loving Mom and Grandma. A loyal sister and friend. A capable and dedicated nurse . But above all she was an amazing example of selflessness; If you needed a shirt she’d be insistent that you wore hers.

Gail was a HOME for so many, and she will be very missed.
