Pokemon Unbound is an incredible pokemon game with plenty of quality-of-life improvements and other features that make it better than most Nintendo releases. Today, we’re bringing you the most useful cheat codes to improve your playthrough even more.

How Do You Use Pokemon Unbound Cheats?

Using cheat codes can be incredibly helpful to achieve certain goals or avoid difficult areas of a game. Regardless of why you’re using them though, they can sometimes be difficult to actually activate.

Since Pokemon Unbound is a ROM hack of Fire Red version for the Gameboy Advanced, you’ll likely be using some sort of GBA emulator to apply these codes. To do that, we need to be using Game Shark cheats, Pro Action Replay cheats, or Code Breaker cheats.

The codes all work basically the same, using a series of numbers and letters to tell your emulator what to do. Code Breaker and Game Shark might use different hex encryption, but that’s not something you need to worry about.

These different virtual cheat cartridges only matter when troubleshooting. If one of our codes isn’t working, you might want to try applying it through a different cheat cartridge.

Applying Pokemon Unbound Cheats GBA

With your emulator running and your ROM loaded up, you should be able to find a setting in the drop-down bar labeled cheats, cheat codes, or something similar. A pop-up should appear that looks something like the image below.

All GBA Pokemon Unbound Cheats (Fully Tested, Every Version) (2)

This is where the fun begins. Click the add button appropriate to the code type you want to apply (i.e. Add GameShark). On the left, an untitled blank code will appear. Feel free to name the code, and then, with it highlighted, enter a code in the text box to the right and click add.

Once you do this, the code is visible on the left screen when you hit the title’s dropdown bar. Now, all you have to do is ensure the box to the left is highlighted and the code is nearly applied.

With your codes added and ready to be applied, drop down a fresh save file and reset the game. Not every emulator requires this, but it’s good practice anyways. Congratulations, you now have a working code!

Your precise interface might be slightly different than this, but a text box that you can type into is almost always where your code goes, while an ‘add’ or similar button almost always saves the code. Likewise, there are very few emulators that don’t use a simple checkbox to denote applied codes.

Troubleshooting Pokemon Unbound Cheats GBA

If you run into any issues, there are a few steps to take to make sure things are running smoothly. Follow these steps and you’ll have your desired cheat code working in no time.

  1. Make sure the cheat is applied. The box next to your desired code should be checked.
  2. Check to see if the code is input properly. Extra spaces in the wrong places can cause serious problems, or stop a code from running entirely.
  3. Try inputting the code through a different virtual cheat cartridge. Switching to Game Shark or Code Breaker is often a good quick fix, as the code might be specific to one or the other.
  4. Stop applying other codes. Too many codes might be trying to access the same portion of your game’s memory, causing them all to fail. Try using just one code at a time, and slowly adding more. Remember, the more codes you apply, the more likely it is that your game will crash.

Pokemon Unbound Cheats

We’ve tested out, and even coded, a bunch of cheats to make sure things are working as expected.

Unfortunately, we found that a lot of cheats being dispensed on other sites are just a jumble of digits. They might’ve worked for earlier versions, but they certainly aren’t what you want to be using if you’re playing the most up-to-date version of Pokemon Unbound.

With that, we hope you enjoy the cheats we have for you!

Note: Next to the name of each cheat, you’ll see the name of the cheat cartridge we suggest using. This doesn’t mean it won’t work with another option, just that these are the ones we found the best performance in.

Item Cheats

Item cheats are used to get you whatever desired healing items, desired poke balls, or desired key items you want.

900 of Every Item (GAMESHARK)

All GBA Pokemon Unbound Cheats (Fully Tested, Every Version) (3)

This is the last piece of code you’ll ever need for items. It fills your bag with unlimited rare candies, unlimited master balls, and everything else your heart could desire.

Admittedly, this many items can feel like you’re really taking advantage of the game, so we’ve included more codes below that help you generate specific items.

Items Deposited in PC (GAMESHARK)

Using these codes, the first slot in your PC item storage will be filled with the desired item. Please note, this will replace any item you have there, so be sure it’s something cheap and easy to replace.

The cheated item will also be the same quantity as whatever was in the PC, so you can make it as high or low as you want it to.

All of these codes use the following master code: 820257C4 YYYY

To create a cheat, simply replace YYYY with the code of the item you desire. The code corresponds with a specific item, which is why we list the specific item code separately.

NOTE: This cheat is only compatible with items that show up in the ITEMS slot of your Cube. Pokeballs, key items, and TMs will not function properly if you try to mix them with the master code.

Wild Pokemon Cheats

Encounter Shiny Pokemon (Gameshark)

1670047D 04815C68
18452A7D DDE55BCC

This code will allow you to encounter wild shiny pokemon. While this shiny code locks shinies into appearing, the pokemon won’t actually appear shiny when you encounter them.

Once you’ve caught the pokemon you’re looking for, save the game and reset with the cheat unapplied. When you look at the pokemon, you’ll notice that they are shiny.

Be warned, this cheat does have the tendency to produce a rather buggy pokemon. It’s a better idea to get your hands on a shiny charm so you can encounter shiny pokemon more naturally.

Wild Pokemon Encounter Cheat(Codebreaker)

This code allows you to catch wild pokemon that you specifically choose. Simply apply the code and you’ll have a guaranteed encounter. Be warned, this does not typically work with other encounter modifying codes.

Battle Cheats

Instant Kill (GAMESHARK)

95EDFBBA A5A72A78
C833D1A0 02FA7205

With this code, pokemon you deal damage to will automatically faint. Be warned, this only works on the pokemon to the right in double battles.

Win ANy Battle (GAMESHARK)

4D83B1BF E0F5F507
8E883EFF 92E9660D
B6C5368A 08BE8FF4
90B4977C C0151DC2

Some people claim that this code allows you to catch enemy trainer’s pokemon. However, we’ve found that to not be the case in the most updated version of Pokemon Unbound.

What it does do, is allow you to instantly flee any battle, even with a trainer.

To use this cheat, press L + R at the same time.

Unlimited PP (GAMESHARK)

00000002 0002

This code gives your pokemon unlimited PP in battle.

This Pokemon Unbound cheat will give the pokemon in your party well beyond the maximum stats they can have, straight to 999.

While this cheat is running, your pokemon will also heal back to 999 health at the end of battle.

From our tests, the other stat changes seem to not make much of a difference in actual play.

Instant Teleportation (Codebreaker)

This is one of the most reliable pokemon unbound cheats we’ve uncovered, and it allows you to instantly teleport to a desired location. While we haven’t found a walkthrough walls cheat yet, we can honestly say this is much better.

To use this code specifically, you’ll want to use the following steps:

  1. Enter code.
  2. Ensure code is applied.
  3. Walk up through a door.
  4. Turn off code.

Using an entrance that faces the wrong direction can result in you teleporting to the right location, but being stuck in a wall. A few of these may have a different orientation, so as always, save before using a code and reset your game if necessary.

In Closing

Pokemon Unbound may already be one of the best GBA ROM hacks, but that doesn’t mean it can’t benefit from a bit of coding manipulation. With these codes, you’ll be able to breeze passed any challenges that you just don’t want to deal with.

Remember, don’t use to many codes at once. And as always, have fun!
